Many apiarists sell their honey in farmers’ markets, an ideal way of developing brand awareness and growing new sales opportunities, both with consumers and value-adding food businesses.
B-QUAL recently reached out to the Australian Farmers’ Markets Association (AFMA) to promote awareness of the B-Trace Certification Program for smaller honey producers (under 100 hives).
‘Virtually every farmers’ market has a honey stall and shoppers are always concerned to know they are buying quality local produce. Any scheme that supports authenticity and consumer trust is
significant, both for the producer and consumer,’ commented AFMA Chairperson, Jane Adams.
AFMA was pleased to circulate information to market managers and honey stallholders about the B-Trace certification and commends bee-keepers to investigate the scheme.
